GROW Glen Eira is an exciting and innovative all abilities horticulture training program run by Kevin Heinze Grow in partnership with the Glen Eira City Council. This program forms part of Council’s A Community for All Abilities program. The aim of the program is to create stronger social, employment and support networks for people living with a disability in the City of Glen Eira.
The program is a hands-on horticulture training program that provides trainees with the technical skills and work readiness skills to find open employment in garden maintenance and horticulture. Trainees undertake a customised hands-on horticulture training program. Under the guidance of the GROW Glen Eira Coordinator, trainees complete work placements through Glen Eira Council’s Park Services, Kevin Heinze Grow’s nurseries or the Rippon Lea Estate gardens.
Following the completion of the program, trainees are supported in their journey to find employment or volunteering opportunities within the horticulture industry in their community.
The program is open to young people who have a disability or mental health challenges aged 15 – 35 years old living in the City of Glen Eira and who have an interest in horticulture.
