Join us for the eighth seminar in our Online Series: The GROW Model – Modelling
For each element of Kevin Heinze Grow’s Model of Practice, effective Therapeutic Horticulture practitioners know how to use modelling as a powerful tool for learning and engagement.
In a garden setting, modelling involves demonstrating skills, behaviours or ways of engaging, allowing participants to observe and then choose to try things for themselves. Whether it’s showing how to plant a seedling, how to approach a task with care and focus, or how to interact socially in a group, modelling helps create new pathways for learning, participation and therapeutic benefit.
So how can practitioners recognise and make the most of these modelling moments? And how can modelling be used intentionally to enhance therapeutic outcomes?
In this seminar, we’ll introduce the concept of “Modelling” within the GROW Model, share real-world examples from Kevin Heinze Grow programs, and provide practical strategies for building effective modelling into your own Therapeutic Horticulture practice.
What You’ll Gain from This Seminar:
✅ A clear understanding of what “modelling” means in a Therapeutic Horticulture context
✅ Insights into how modelling supports participant learning, confidence and engagement
✅ Real-life examples of how Kevin Heinze Grow trainers use modelling to achieve therapeutic outcomes
✅ Practical tips to recognise, create and use modelling moments effectively in your own sessions
