Join us for the eleventh seminar in our Online Series: The GROW Model – Participant Leadership
At Kevin Heinze GROW, our Therapeutic Horticulture programs are designed around the goals and needs of participants—placing them at the centre of practice. This means that in many ways, participants are leading our staff on the journey of positive personal development through gardening.
Opportunities for participant leadership are present in all Therapeutic Horticulture settings, but they require intentional strategies to be recognised and fostered. Leadership can be as simple as guiding a group in a gardening task, demonstrating a skill to peers, or influencing program activities with their own interests and ideas.
So how can practitioners promote and utilise these opportunities? And what benefits can participant leadership create in a therapeutic context?
In this seminar, we'll explore strategies for supporting leadership in the garden, share real-world examples from Kevin Heinze GROW programs, and discuss how participant-led approaches can unlock new outcomes such as confidence, identity, skill development and connection with others.
What You'll Gain from This Seminar:
✅ A clear understanding of participant leadership in a Therapeutic Horticulture context
✅ Practical strategies for recognising and creating leadership opportunities
✅ Real examples of how participant leadership has shaped outcomes at Kevin Heinze GROW
✅ Insights into how leadership fosters confidence, identity and connection
