Grow Glen Eira is an exciting and innovative All-Abilities horticulture training program for young people with a disability seeking open employment in horticulture. The program is a partnership between Kevin Heinze Grow and Glen Eira City Council.
Mason began their journey at Kevin Heinze Grow in October 2021 and has flourished in the Grow Glen Eira program. Mason works alongside a team of two other participants, to help maintain the Kevin Heinze Grow Nursery at Doncaster. Each day in the program is different, however tasks include pruning, watering, weeding, propagating plants and maintaining the plants in the nursery. Mason says being at Kevin Heinze Grow in the All-Abilities horticulture program provides “a relaxing environment and it is very accommodating to my needs”. Mason says they felt supported and have learnt lots of new skills in the program.
